An enchanting view comes again from Yogyakarta land. It is Mount Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It is an enchanting object to view which has carving reliefs due to its explosion. If you like hiking, you may be familiar with “Ketep Pass”, a peak of hill which is the best spot to observe Mount Merapi and its activity. It is absolutely the best spot because we can not only see Mount Merapi itself but also we can see five peaks of mountain at once. This exciting spectacle can be experienced from approximately 1,200 meters above sea level.  It is about 50 kilometres northerly Yogyakarta.

Here, tourists can observe the peak of Mount Merapi clearly in daylight hours from Ketep. Tourists can find out anon about volcanoes in general and Mount Merapi in particular. To observe Mount Merapi well, an observation telescope has been installed in Ketep Pass to take a closer look, both at the peak of Mount Merapi and other object around it. But if you have your own telescope, you can use yours. Unfortunately, only a few people are able to operate it. Here is the step how to observe Mount Merapi with an oservation telescope. To do this surely you will need a observation telescope and supporting weather.
  1. 1.      Plan your viewing session. One of the most important things to begin with is to carefully choose the right time you will view. The weather of Mount Merapi is unpredictable. Sometimes foggy is undeniable. Unless you plan on looking at fog itself. You can ask to the information staff to know the good weather in prediction.
  1. 2.      Transport your telescope to the re-selected viewing spot. If you own the telescope, you can transport it from your house to Ketep Pass to enjoy the view. But if you do not, you can use the telescope which has been provided.
  1. 3.      Set up your telescope. After getting the Ketep, you can start to set up the telescope. While every telescope set-up slightly different, they are all basically same in some features. There must be an optical tube of some type, a mount, and eyepieces. Take the time to become familiar with all the components of the telescope in order to get the awesome view. If you cannot set it up, do not worry about it because there will be a guide for guiding you.
  1. 4.      Open the cover of the telescope lens. The cover is important thing in the telescope because the telescope’s view is dependent on ambient temperature. The temperature surely can make it fog up.
  1. 5.      Aim your telescope at the first item on your viewing. You have to decide which or what spot you are eagerly to watch.
  1. 6.      Focus the telescope. A telescope must be focused to show a proper image. An out-of-focus telescope will show blurs or nothing at all. Get it into focus and begin enjoying the new vistas your telescope provides. Always ask the guide how to focus a telescope that is not yours.
  1. 7.      Watch an amazement of the awe-inspiring wonders of the mount before your eyes.
  1. 8.      Aim your telescope at the next spot on your viewing. After having amazing views, try to aim your telescope at the next spot on your viewing. There are some other enchanting objects have already waited for spoiling your eyes.
  1. 9.      Share your viewing with your friends. It will be nice if you can share those amazing view to your friends. You can capture the view by using a digital single-lens reflex camera, famous as DSLR. The principle of taking photographs through the telescope with your DSLR is quite simple. You just use the telescope in place of the camera lens, and snap away. Thus, you may share it on facebook or other social media.
Watching a live volcano eruption from a safe distance away is an amazing experience. Therefore, it is recommended Ketep Pass as a tourism object for your holiday destination.
